About this deal

Discover our changing skies and climate’, the strapline reads, and How the Weather Works delivers with a highly engaging and fact-packed format for KS2 children. Fleeing to the miserable town of Grunsby-on-Sea, Steven is determined to not hurt anyone else - but he doesn’t count on his best friend Freya, her boyfriend Marcus and American friend Troy following him.

So without warning, I got confronted with a guy whose age was later confirmed to be over 80 years old sexually assaulting the 17-year-old main character. While these four young people are having a meal in a greasy spoon cafe, Steven gets to meet another young man, Zachary, who has the same unwanted powers as him. Overall, Overemotional was a force to be reckoned with, a wild ride of friendship, escapades to survive and always being true to yourself. I hate having to give reviews like this, especially when I was looking forward to reading the book and I've seen so much hype surrounding it. And, apparently, running around the playground pretending to be alien butterflies with freezing breath is one of them. As this approach would have offered us a deeper and more intimate understanding of his character, allowing us to witness events unfold through his eyes.

The problem is his best friend Freya won’t let him disappear, she along with her boyfriend and their American friend Troy track him down and demand he come home. Exploring disability and resilience through artistic expression, Sing If You Can’t Dance is empowering, genuine and memorable in equal measure. They felt like an ode to the old types in British TV shows I watched as a teen, the banter and inside jokes never missing. It's advertised as a wholesome adventure, but there are some pretty intense topics we learn about all of a sudden which are skimmed over. Another fave was rookie Agent Wren, whose enthusiasm leads to more than one awkward (but highly entertaining) conversation with her supervisor—trust me, it’s pretty much impossible not to find her antics a little amusing.Every character is so lovable in their own way, I love Troy so much and he is literally the definition of a teenager with a crush, so cringey and awkward is so real.

The story follows Steven, his best friend, Freya, her boyfriend, Marcus (who Steven isn’t so fond of) and an American student, Troy, as they’re stranded in the town with a broken down car while also being on the hunt from a strange DEMA organisation. This book had a brilliant start – some great characters to get to know, it slowed down around chapter 3 and 4, but then it became unputadownable around chapter 8 – and I literally read the second half of the book in an afternoon. He lugs himself and a few things to the dark and dreary town of Grunsby-On-Sea to hide out, trying to find work and keep his head down in a flat with peeling retro wallpaper and more questions than answers. After being there by himself for a short time, he is soon joined by his best friend, Freya , her boyfriend, Marcus and his friend Troy . I did not get bored even once, the world building around the powers is so interesting and new in some way.

Everything about the characters was extremely well done and I loved the multiple POVs that the we, as the readers, are given to fully process every point in the story. She also assumes he's gay just because he's never shown any interest in girls, blatantly ignoring that Steven might be acespec, arospec, private about his feelings, not interested in any of these girls in specific, not interested in romance/sex in general yet, bi/pan with a preference for men, etcetera.

Overemotional (David Fenne) – Book Review – Set The Tape

It was a book about feelings, friendship and love, made into a science fiction capturing the target audience of young adult reader. I was intrigued throughout the majority of this story but couldnt rate it 5 stars because of a certain reveal. This seamless transition continues throughout the middle section of the book, ensuring that us readers remain fully engrossed in the story. It’s all quite wholesome and soft when compared to other YA stories (although again, a cute boy’s head does explode on page one), which is both a blessing and a curse, depending upon the reader’s taste. If you are still wondering how to get free PDF EPUB of book OVEREMOTIONAL: the wholesome, queer YA adventure of the year!
