About this deal

Buy It Direct Ltd is a limited company registered in England. Registered number 04171412. Registered office: Unit A Trident Business Park, Leeds Road, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, HD2 1UA. What do you do if you already produce some of the quietest and most energy-efficiency dehumidifiers on the market? With Meaco’s new MeacoDry Arete One, the answer is to go even lower with power consumption and even quieter – and with some higher capacity options, too. We know of customers who have tried all sorts of solutions to remove humidity in their property before finding the solution with the MeacoDry ‘ABC’ range. Giving you great value for money, it combines excellent performance with low energy costs and super-quiet operation, giving you the best of all worlds.

This is an excellent dehumidifier that is also remarkably quiet. It’s an excellent choice if what you need is a dehumidifier for normal house temperatures.'- Which? Investing in a dehumidifier can be a wise move if you’re affected by damp, either by inheriting it after moving into a property that’s suffering from it or simply through everyday living. Drying clothes, cooking meals and spending too long under the shower are common ways of producing your own condensation and wider damp issues. Automatic defrost - increases water extraction whilst saving energy when used in lower temperaturesMeaco’s existing 20L MeacoDry ABC dehumidifier produced a maximum 44dB(A) of noise at one metre and consumed roughly 244W. The Arete One is specified to top out at 40dB(A) and consume around 250W, although – as we’ll see later – measured consumption is actually much lower.

Taking a tour of that interface for the first time reveals core controls that are brilliantly simple. Once you’ve tried it out then setting up the Meacodry ABC 10L Dehumidifier for different rooms is dead easy. Central to this is the humidistat button, which allows you to configure your preferred humidity removal level. It’s possible to set target relative humidity in increments of 5%, which is pretty precise really given the reasonably budget appeal of the machine.

The advantage of the size, drying power and capacity is that the Arete One can dehumidify larger areas than your average 10-12L dehumidifier. I’ve had it working on an upstairs landing and a large downstairs hallway, and in both cases, it did a solid job of controlling humidity and drying out areas affected by damp or mould, although in these sorts of environments you need to leave it running for longer periods to make an impact.

Our Extended3 Year Warranty from Buy It Direct gives you the reassurance that if an electrical or mechanical fault arises you won't be exposed to costly repair bills. Our dedicated technical team will take care of your dehumidifier.Because we understand that you don’t want a huge, complicated and inflexible dehumidifier in your home, we’ve designed the MeacoDry ‘ABC’ range to fit right in with your lifestyle. The unit is easy to use, and you can set your target humidity in steps of 5%, giving you complete control. What’s more, we’ve added these great features:• Laundry mode – when you’re drying laundry indoors, your relative humidity will rise. On this setting, your dehumidifier will run at full speed for 6 hours to help dry your clothes and then automatically switch off to save energy. There is nothing worse than your dehumidifier breaking down just after the Manufacturer's warranty has expired. Here at Buy It Direct Ltd we want you to get the most out of your dehumidifier, which is why we offer a3 Year Warranty plan.

In night mode I still found noise levels too high to sleep with it running in the same room, but it was fine running in a room downstairs or in another room, with only a barely perceptible low hum crossing walls or floors. MeacoDry Arete One review: What could be improved? This is a compressor dehumidifier meaning you have low running costs, and when you see how quiet these dehumidifiers are you have a near perfect solution for dehumidifying in the home.Normally, you wouldn’t do this – the ideal humidity is usually 40% to 60% and within a few degrees of 50% is fine. However, if you’re trying to deal with mildew, mould or damp patches, then you’ll want to keep it a little lower. As mentioned, the water tank stores 4.8L and simply slides in and out of the body of the unit. On even the heaviest day of testing I didn’t have to empty it more than once, although I’ve generally been working at room temperatures of around 22°C with humidity levels starting at around 62-67%. If you’re dehumidifying a seriously damp space or one that’s been flooded, then you may have to empty more often. The unit also supports continuous drainage, although you’ll need your own hose and a nearby drain or sink. This size of unit is especially useful in smaller homes and flats because of its size and Quiet Mark award-winning operation. Wherever you use it, you’ll find it won’t disturb work, play or sleep. I tested it overnight in an unheated, external utility room that’s horribly prone to condensation, and it did a solid job of keeping the drips at bay. If you’re looking for a dehumidifier for a conservatory or garden room, this one should be up to the job for most of the year, although I’d still recommend a desiccant dehumidifier for use in colder areas and colder months.
