About this deal

Run the recommended advanced scan. This scan takes longer but searches more extensively for threats on your PC. It’s a guide to dealing with illness, loss and defeat. And it’s a handbook to facing loneliness, despair and all the other emotions that society often glosses over. The world moves fast, but that doesn’t mean we have to. This bestselling mindfulness guide by Haemin Sunim (which means “spontaneous wisdom”), a renowned Buddhist meditation teacher born in Korea and educated in the United States, illuminates a path to inner peace and balance amid the overwhelming demands of everyday life. The Laziness Lie is a deep-seated, culturally held belief system that leads many of us to believe the following: Deep down I’m lazy and worthless. I must work incredibly hard, all the time, to overcome my inner laziness. My worth is earned through my productivity. Work is the center of life. Anyone who isn’t accomplished and driven is immoral.” Dr. Devon Price, Laziness Does Not Exist

Ik denk niet dat ik spiritueel genoeg ben aangelegd om dit boek, geschreven door een Boeddhistische monnik, fantastisch te vinden. Van sommige adviezen rolden mijn ogen tot ver achter in mijn oogkassen. Bijvoorbeeld: "Are you feeling depressed? If so, just see a sleeping baby’s face for one minute. You’ll feel a calm repose in your mind." Tja. The person leading you toward spiritual awakening is not the one who praises you or is nice to you. Your spirituality deepens because of those who insult you and give you a hard time. They are your spiritual teachers in disguise. How” If I had to summarize the entirety of most people’s lives in a few words, it would be endless resistance to what is. As we resist, we are in constant motion trying to adjust, and yet we still remain unhappy about what is.” Barnes is a trained yogi and meditation teacher who writes with an experienced and honest voice on the challenges of slowing down in our modern age.We know the world only through the window of our mind. When our mind is noisy, the world is as well. And when our mind is peaceful, the world is, too. Knowing our minds is just as important as trying to change the world.” I personally found especially the chapters on Rest and Mindfulness interesting, but in general Sunim advocates being a gentler, empathic and more perceptive person. There was one passage that I particularly enjoyed, which made me think about how similar every humans experience of being human ultimately is, despite how different all of our lives may seem: The multimillion-copy bestselling book of spiritual wisdom about the importance of slowing down in our fast-paced world, by the Buddhist author of Love for Imperfect Things Sunim explores facets of the slow life like the importance of tolerance and learning from different spiritual traditions. He also talks about the importance of space and independence in relationships, and the life-changing magic of observing your own thoughts and emotions. These are powerful guides whether you’re looking to spend more time offline, live in tune with nature – or just declutter your closet.

As you speak, be deliberate. Use any of these things when you’re talking to add a short pause and communicate relaxed confidence: Oef, dit boek begon heel goed.

Oh, and how could I not mention the stunningly whimsical illustrations by Freya Hartas?! Her renditions of specific imagery within nature were so moving – the slow-moving snail and the sun-seeking sunflowers were my personal favourites. All around us, nature is turning, growing…and working. Every day, hour by hour, magical transformations happen right in front of you. But it's not always easy to see them… Discover 50 nature stories, paused just long enough for you to watch them unfold. Then go outside and explore… and see what you find when you take the time to slow down.
