Aza'gorod • Crimson God • Emberresh • Hsiagn'la • Iash'uddra • Kalugura • Llandu'gor • Mag'ladroth • Mephet'ran • N'phoran • Nyadra'zatha • Og'driada • Stardeath • The Sufferer • Thyssak'lha • Tsara'noga • Yggra'nya • Zarhulash • Zul'channec To be fair, I don’t particularly think that the Tyranids can afford to get very aggressive either, as a single monster thrown out unto the teeth of the Custodes will get stabbed to death, but because the attrition here favours them, that doesn’t matter nearly as much. In addition, on this mission in particular they have some powerful options for boosting their Primary in the mid-late game – once you’re deep enough in that you can afford to start throwing Dimachaerons or Harpies into sacrificial situations, you can ObSec one up with Synaptic Imperative and yeet it over to the opponent’s home objective for a sweet 4VP of Primary, making up quite a bit of a score gap even if you’ve been treading water on 6s and 10s most turns. That also forces them to scramble to actually clear it out our risk losing a point in their own turn, which is presumably extremely embarassing for the Custodian Guard. Since Custodes can’t as easily do the same in response, as Bikes aren’t ObSec and getting enough of them onto the Nids home one to out-hold the Swarmlord is going to be rough, you end up with a relative stalemate where the Tyranids have the tools to reliably pull

In 943.M41 after the White Scars' Great Khan Kyublai went missing in combat with the Drukhari Kabal of the Bloodied Talon, Kor'sarro sought vengeance against the sadistic xenos.Michael Costello – Deathwatch: Michael puts in a fantastic performance with the latest iteration of his Kill Team Strike Force build. The list includes three big, nasty Proteus teams as the core, then a dakka-heavy Aquila Indomitor team to hose down things like Crusher Stampede nasties, and a new addition of a Spectrus team, which adds a bit of flexibility and some more first turn charge potential when dealing with super-deadly shooting armies like Tau. Today we look at the Supreme Commander of the Tau Empire forces, Commander Shadowsun – and what to do with her in 9th Edition.

In our How to Paint Everything series, we take a look at different armies of the Warhammer universe, examine their history and heraldry, and look at several different methods for painting them. In this article we take a look at O’Shaserra, better known as Commander Shadowsun, one of the recent models to come out of the Psychic Awakening saga. Who Is Shadowsun? Shadowsun Credit: Games Workshop Probably the worst part of this story is that it makes Shadowsun not a particularly interesting or impressive character. She shows little respect for her allies or enemies, belittling and underestimating both. She repeatedly walks into traps and makes hasty choices that make her feel more like a rookie than a commander who has already served a long time. And the final battle feels downright insulting. The only thing that really stands out about Shadowsun is her family vs career conflict, as stereotypical as it is.Crisis Shas’ui [60pts]: Plasma Rifle [5pts], Cyclic Ion Blaster [10pts], Iridium Battlesuit [5pts], Shield Generator [5pts], T’au Flamer [5pts] Pair of Fusion Blasters - Fusion Blasters are anti-tank weapons that reduce reinforced armour to molten slag in the blink of eye. O'Shaserra is a dynamic leader who rose to recent fame in the battles of the K'resh Expansion. There, she smashed the Ork menace, and her cadres suffered historically low casualties in return. All of Shadowsun's victories are marked by unrivalled efficiency, a trait not surprising from one of Commander Puretide's most promising pupils. Over 300 Terran years ago, O'Shaserra was a brilliant young warrior; her successes and matchless performances at the Fire Caste academies earned her recognition as one of the most able military minds in the T'au Empire. As such, she was granted the honour of studying personally under the ailing but legendary Commander Puretide. Despite being the youngest of all Puretide's proteges, O'Shaserra scored exceptionally well in all simulations, outstripping all others, save one -- the most highly favoured of all Puretide's students, Commander O'Shovah (Farsight). From the start, theirs was a bitter rivalry, as the two most gifted Tau Commanders in the Empire strove to gain their wizened master's approval. After failing to do so once more following the T'au's great victory during the Prefectia Campaign, Kor'sarro next hunted the T'au supreme commander during the Second Agrellan Campaign, again without success. Though he would have remained no matter the cost until his oath was fulfilled or he was slain by the T'au, a call from the White Scars Chapter Master Jubal Khan came from Chogoris.

Only when Vargard Obyron took command did things go badly for the escapees. Several of the fugitives were slain by Obyron's Warscythe, leaving only Kor'sarro and an Asuryani Ranger by the name of Illic Nightspear to fight on, and the latter swiftly received a blow that sent him sprawling from the fight. Thus did the battle devolve into a duel atop bleeding bodies and broken machines. The second team should be comprised of Kut Skoden, Volk, Angrax, Nauseous Rotbone and either Re’vas or Bellator. If you’re missing any of those characters, you can swap in Brother Buchard, Haarken, Gibbascrapz, Tjark, Vindcita, or Maugan Ra. Rotbone is definitely good to have, as he can heal your team and keep you in the fight longer. Afterwards, a recovering Shadowsun remembered her encounter with T'au'va, beneath Mount Kan'ji on Dal'yth, and how the Goddess had saved her. She then learned of the Death Guard's defeat and that their warships which had entered the Startide Nexus, were now likely trapped within the Warp. All this led Shadowsun to immediately tell the Earth Caste to stop the destruction of T'au'va's temples. [1h] Sources

Elsewhere, Shadowsun tasked Swiftflame with engaging the Raven Guard around Ventur Scar. The Sons of Corax were inflicting heavy losses on Air Caste patrols and convoys, gaining the attention of Admiral Skychild. Swiftflame was able to eventually intercept the Raven Guard Gunships, using a single Razorshark as a lure. The ambush worked, and a vicious aerial battle erupted that saw the Raven Guard escape thanks to the arrival of Thunderhawks. Soonafter Swiftflame was forced to withdraw as well and for the next several days the dance of trap and counter-trap continued between the Tau and Raven Guard. [1e] While Commander Farsight makes a splash in the Arks of Omen series this week, his erstwhile colleague Commander Shadowsun embarks on an adventure of her own through the swirling Startide Nexus. Meanwhile, more tales of the Tanith First and Only get French-language editions. Shadowsun: The Patient Hunter Surround yourself with the greatest warriors at your command, or cower in the deepest and darkest hole you can find. It matters not. I shall take your head for the Great Khan and for the Emperor." There, she walked into a trap set around House Terryn's ancestral fortress. In the resulting ambush, Kor'sarro Khan wounded Shadowsun grievously, coming within a hand's breadth of decapitating her with his sword. Once more, however, she escaped. The Khan's great oath had yet to be fulfilled, and upon Prefectia, he would pursue it more determinedly than ever. The Tau were at a slight advantage after Mu'gulath Bay and Voltoris, for the Imperium had transferred much of Prefectia's garrison to wage these campaigns. Surprisingly, Imperial officials were in many ways glad at the Tau decision to not steer further towards Dovaris, and settled in for a new round of fighting. [1a] Opening Moves
