About this deal

Twelve years ago, the world of Doctor Who was suddenly a slightly colder place, a wave of numbness spreading across fandom as it struggled to process the news of Lis Sladen’s death. We had lost one of the most beloved companions of all time and, particularly for younger viewers, one of their great heroes. A woman who, in the persona of Sarah Jane Smith, had taught bravery and kindness in equal measure. A comforting presence on the CBBC schedules suddenly gone. That numb feeling bled into decisions regarding the future of the show she had led, too. Continuing The Sarah Jane Adventures without her, or crafting a successor series around another former companion, seemed unbearable to contemplate. Not only did it seem too soon to move on, it felt like it would always be too soon. Destination: Wedding by James Goss - Rani and Gita Chandra have been invited to a dream wedding on a luxury island resort. But how did Tiff from school end up marrying a film star? And why has she asked all the worst people from her life alongside the Hollywood A-listers? While Gita samples the canapés and criticises the flower arrangements, Rani senses something amiss… The perfect wedding comes at a price – but who will be paying? Life on Bannerman Road was always an adventure for Rani Chandra and her friends. A childhood of mystery and wonder, of meeting aliens, time travellers, lost princes, intergalactic robots and so much more – all alongside Sarah Jane Smith. Sarah Jane is gone. Childhood ends. Everyone grows up eventually. But the story doesn’t stop there. When Rani and Clyde are reunited, adventure finds them once again – ready and waiting to take on the world! The character of Sarah Jane Smith, played by Sladen, appeared in Doctor Who from 1973 to 1976, alongside both Jon Pertwee as the Third Doctor and Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor. A pilot episode for another Doctor Who spin-off series, K-9 and Company, made in 1981, featured Sarah Jane and the robot dog K9; however, a full series was never commissioned. [16] Sarah Jane and K9 returned to Doctor Who in various media many times over the years, most notably in the 20th anniversary special The Five Doctors (1983), and in episodes " School Reunion" (2006), " The Stolen Earth" / " Journey's End" (2008) and " The End of Time" (2010). After falling asleep on the night tube, Rani and Clyde wake in a nightmare – a future in which the Bane have succeeded in taking over the Earth. Humans are docile cattle, the planet’s resources sold to the highest bidder. Bane Uncle Crispin believes all opposition has been crushed, but the new arrivals are ready to fight. Are they the last hope of resistance? And how can Rani and Clyde ever return home?

UK release includes Pyramids of Mars as a bonus feature in tribute to Elisabeth Sladen (in Standard Definition) [151]
