Even though mascara is the one product that I've used since I was about 14, and I don't really go out without it, I find it relatively difficult to review. And while my looks graduated from thick, wet glitter sticks in seventh grade to the streamlined, natural approach I take now, the one thing that has been a constant—a non-negotiable, really—in my routine has always been mascara. It didn’t feel wet and heavy when I first put it on, and the second coat went on just as smoothly as the first. The wand's comb-like bristles separate lash hairs as you apply, so there is minimal clumping and every precious lash is defined. It turns out there are very few mascaras that don't make my lashes clump and provide adequate lift, curl, and volume, and CoverGirl's LashBlast Volume Mascara is one of them.

Despite how clumsy I thought LashBlast Volume's thick, caterpillar-like brush would be, it actually held onto my itty-bitty lashes and didn't make them clump, even as I continued swiping on product. In my experience, the 24 Hour version has the widest mouth – this allows more product to remain on the wand – hence this is why I find the 24 Hr one to be the most clumpy of all of the LashBlast. Considering the extremely different ingredients list, these two mascaras actually do perform similarly, though I slightly prefer the non-waterproof option.
