About this deal

Anthony Metivier, Magnetic Memory MethodOlly's top-notch language-learning insights are right in line with the best of what we know from neuroscience and cognitive psychology about how to learn effectively. It consists of 8 short stories, all of which are written fairly simply, similar to what a second or third grader would probably read for school reading assignments. As a result, you will be able to focus on enjoying reading, delighting in your improved range of vocabulary and grasp of the language all without ever feeling overwhelmed. I loved the sense of progression and it certainly feels more rewarding than going through textbooks. An unmissable collection of eight unconventional and captivating short stories for young adult and adult intermediate learners of Italian.

I understand that to make short stories for beginner you can't make them super complicated/intriguing with nuances and so on. This format is great because you’re not interrupted by vocab checking on every page and you get a sense of the story as a story rather than just a lesson. In another story a family plays a prank on a girl by having her boyfriend disappear and the father dressed in a bear costume. Yo creo que es un problema pequeña, en todos las capítulos unos hombres son muy fuertes, son exploradores, en casi todos son características primeras. SHORT STORIES IN SPANISH incluye ocho cuentos diferentes - ciencia ficción, fantasía, crimen, thriller, aventuras y interés general – con un pequeño vocabulario para las palabras más difíciles y algunas preguntas para probar la comprensión del lector.

With no exposure to languages growing up, and no natural talent for languages, Olly had to figure out how to learn French from scratch. I won't be assigning a rating to this book because, truth be told, I stumbled upon it a while ago and ended up shelving it, eventually forgetting about it. Este libro fue mi primera lectura en español y ahora, cuándo ya sé algo de español básico gracias a mis clases en la universidad, fue mucho más fácil terminar los últimos cuentos.

Definitely intermediate, not beginner (all but the first story are in past tense and use subjunctive, etc. Unless your are at a stage in learning where these have all been taught I am not sure it will be clear or understood from this book. Even cooler, at the end of each chapter, you have a summary ("Resumen" in Spanish) + Key Vocabulary + Reading Comprehension questions.

However for familiarising yourself with these factors and using alongside your learning I think it is worthy of having in your library. When the old brother falls asleep on the bus and ends up at the end of the bus line he's in a town that is an hour away from downtown Barcelona, but instead of figuring out how to get back, he decides to stay in a hotel for the night and doesn't figure out how to get in touch with his sister. As you read, you’ll be amazed as your brain develops a natural, instinctive understanding of Spanish. This is a collection of quite interesting stories that ring true and introduce a good deal of vocabulary. Short stories from a variety of compelling genres, from science fiction and crime to history and thriller, so you’ll have great fun reading, whilst learning a wide range of new vocabulary and rapidly improving your Spanish comprehension!Barbara Oakley, PhD, Author of New York Times bestseller A Mind for Numbers You may also be interested in. This Jonathan LeviOlly bridges the gap between theory and practice by helping you to use scientific principles to get real results with your language learning. At the start of Covid I started taking a private, 1 hr Zoom class a week which I am still continuing. One story that particularly stood out to me was "Ferrg, El Dragón" because I absolutely did not anticipate that twist.

And this required much use of a dictionary as the dictionary included in the back of the book is far from adequate. Short Stories in Spanish for Beginners has been written especially for students from beginner to intermediate level, designed to give a sense of achievement, and most importantly - enjoyment! That said, the author makes sure to introduce plenty of practice with verb conjugations and moods and useful adverbs and phrases as well as new vocabulary. Simple, present tense verbs and vocabulary at the start, then gradually increasing the complexity along the way, with some subjunctive and conditional tenses by the end.

Bored of children's books, on the one hand, and unable to make meaningful progress on Spanish translations of familiar English works, on the other, I had almost given up in frustration. If the audio is purchased via the Teach Yourself reader app, there’s an option to speed it up (2x) or slow it down, should you desire to do so, so you can supercharge your listening practice. Mapped to A2-B1 on the Common European Framework of Reference, these eight captivating stories will both entertain you, and give you a feeling of progress when reading.
